Where does political correctness end and civic duty begin?

There’s no need to provide any background on the illegal alien problem: Anyone who cares at all about America’s future is well aware of it. And there’s no need to expand on our government’s refusal to either stop the massive influx of illegal aliens crossing our borders, or to do anything about those who are already here. Cynical people would say that many of our elected officials see illegal aliens as a way to further their own interests; Democrats see them as potential (and in many cases current) liberal voters, and Republicans see them as a tool to pacify big business. Either way, they get paid. Cynical people would say that.
But the cold reality of illegal immigration is this: It will be the end of America as we know it. If you think that’s just being alarmist—or racist—then you’re either a politician (or someone else who stands to benefit from it) or the invasion hasn’t reached your community… yet. (I left out the very real possibility that you also might simply be an idiot.) One day our politicians will have to answer to their children and grandchildren when they ask why America became a third-world welfare state. Why did our vaunted healthcare system collapse? Why did our educational system, which was already struggling, implode? Why were we forced to become a socialist nation to support the massive numbers of people who never intended to work and who never paid a dime into the system? Why did crime rates and taxes skyrocket? Why did our quality of life and our standing in the world degrade so completely? They’ll shrug their shoulders, count their money, and point their fingers at anyone other than themselves. Oh, but that’s being cynical again, isn’t it.
Maybe politicians aren’t all on the take. Maybe many of them really don’t see the problem. Living in gated communities and being chauffeured to and from their offices tends to isolate them from reality. But eventually the ugly truth of what illegal immigration is doing—and has already done—to our country will be too much for even the Ted Kennedy’s of the world to ignore. But by then it will be too late.
So we—common Americans—need to stand up and do something now before it is too late. Most of you are nodding your heads in agreement right now. But why does it seem that the only voices in this debate are those that march on our cities, waving foreign flags and demanding their civil rights? (It still baffles me how illegal aliens can demand anything, let alone their civil rights.) You can blame the media for having a bias in its coverage. That’s true to an extent. But how do you explain why so few people show up to counter protest, even when the vast majority of Americans want illegal immigration stopped, and illegals dealt with? The problem is that the last few generations have been so cowed by the omnipresent specter of political correctness that they are simply afraid to speak out. Think about it: you’ll grumble under your breath when you’re at the grocery store surrounded by people speaking Spanish, opening boxes and putting them back on the shelf. But will you actually say anything about it? If you say anything in public against illegals, you’re instantly branded a racist. But wanting to do something about illegal immigration and illegal immigrants IS NOT racist, nor is it xenophobic. It’s merely your right, as an American, to want to preserve your way of life for yourself and your progeny. It’s more than your right; it’s your duty.
Even the word Illegal alien is politically incorrect. Now their called illegal immigrants, or undocumented migrants, or my new favorite, undocumented Americans. (Thank Senator Harry Ried for that pearl.) In this environment of overarching political correctness and demagogue pro-immigration activists, what can we, as Americans, actually do?
First, we can make our voices heard. There’s a little thing called the First Amendment that guarantees you that right. Illegals take advantage of it; it’s time we did too. We’re just afraid to use it. Go to protests and show that Americans are willing to stand up for what they believe in. And let you elected officials know how you feel—often. It worked to derail the Bush amnesty, and it will work if they think their jobs are on the line. Be counted. Be heard.
And second, as we’re trying to do with this website, http://www.hireusfirst.com/, we can show our support for businesses that refuse to hire illegals. It’s a sad truth, but money talks. If we believe the mantra that illegals come here for the jobs, then when we support businesses that refuse to hire illegals rather than patronize those that do, eventually those business owners will get the hint and change their hiring practices. No jobs = no illegals. Right?
No, but it’s a good start. We’ll also need to somehow convince our government to enforce our existing laws. But that’s another fight all together. For now we need to focus on what we can do individually.
So let’s draw the line between political correctness and our duty as Americans. It’s this simple: ask. What do I mean? I mean when you hire a moving company, ask if they hire illegals. When you go to a restaurant, ask the manager if they have illegals working in the back. When you hire a landscaper, or a cleaning service, or a courier, or any one, ask. For any business you interact with, ask. If they do hire illegal aliens, they’ll probably lie to you, but you should be able to tell from their reaction. And if they do, take your business elsewhere. And make sure they know why you’re doing so. Even if it doesn’t make them change right away, it will get them thinking, and if enough of us do it, then it will affect their bottom lines. If they’re willing to sell out our country to save a few bucks, then they should be willing to not hire illegals to get their business back.
So that’s how this revolution begins, how we take our country back from the invading masses. We do it by exercising our First Amendment rights to express our opinions, and we do it by actively seeking out businesses that put America first and who refuse to sell us and our children out for their bottom line.
We should. We must. It’s our duty. Make your voice heard. Ask.
